Privacy & Cookie Policy
Last updated: 31 October 2026. This policy explains what personal data this website processes, why, and under which EU law.
1. Data Controller
The controller of this website is:
Tomás Correia
Individual, based in Coimbra, Portugal
Email: tomasgm@sapo.pt
2. Scope
This policy applies to the personal website of Tomás Correia (the “website”). It covers the processing of personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, “GDPR”) and the ePrivacy Directive (Directive 2002/58/EC), as implemented in Portugal by Law 58/2019.
3. Data Collected
The website does not collect, store, or share personal data. It has no contact forms, no user accounts, no comment sections, no analytics, and no tracking technologies.
The only technical processing is the delivery of the requested pages. The hosting provider may process the visitor’s IP address transiently to serve the page and to prevent abuse. This processing is not stored and is not linked to any identifiable individual by the controller.
4. Hosting and Processor
The website is hosted by statichost.eu (Variable Object Assignment AB, Stockholm, Sweden). The hosting provider is the sole data processor. It operates within the European Union and does not use cookies or analytics on this website.
The source code of this website is publicly available on Codeberg. Publishing source code does not involve processing of visitor data.
5. Legal Basis
To the extent that any processing occurs (transient IP processing for page delivery), it is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR — the legitimate interest of making the website available to the public.
No consent is required, because no non-essential cookies or tracking technologies are used, in line with Article 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC.
6. Cookies
This website does not set any cookies — neither essential nor non-essential. As a result, no cookie banner or consent mechanism is required.
You may still configure your browser to block or delete cookies. This will not affect the functionality of this website.
7. Third-party Links
This website links to external platforms (LinkedIn, ORCID, Ciência Vitae, ResearchGate, iNaturalist, Zenodo, Codeberg, Creative Commons). When you click these links, you leave this website and the privacy policies of those platforms apply.
8. Third-party Trademarks and Logos
This website displays the names and logos of organisations with which Tomás Correia has collaborated in research, conservation, education, data publication, or science communication. These marks are the property of their respective owners.
The display of a third-party name or logo is for identification purposes only. It does not imply sponsorship, endorsement, approval, or any affiliation beyond the factual collaboration it represents. No licence or right to use any third-party mark is granted to visitors of this website.
If you are the owner of a mark displayed on this website and wish to request its removal, correction, or an adjustment to how it is presented, please contact tomasgm@sapo.pt. Requests will be handled promptly.
9. Your Rights
Under the GDPR (Articles 15–21), you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to, and port your personal data. Because the website does not store any personal data, these rights are, in practice, exercised by contacting the controller at tomasgm@sapo.pt.
10. Complaints
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority:
- Portugal: Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD) — cnpd.pt (abre em nova aba)
- Sweden (host): Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY) — imy.se (abre em nova aba)
11. Changes
This policy may be updated to reflect changes in the website or the law. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page.
